Covering a distance of 2.75 km, the road stretches between the junction on Rua Cristóvão Norte, Almancil, and the Quinta do Lago resort.

However, despite the exclusivity of its post-code, the road leaves a lot to be desired, having irregular pedestrian curbs, disorganized parking, potholes, and poor road markings, which have resulted in numerous accidents.

Despite the majority of the road passing through residential zones, in areas it is semi-rural, and has a variety of shops and services dotted along the entire stretch, many without designated parking spaces or access.

Another matter to be addressed is that of the dangerous bends along the road, also the cause of many accidents, as well as direct entrances to private properties and agricultural plots.

A ‘sleeping policeman’ ramp just before the Quinta do Lago roundabout that reduces the distance of drivers’ visibility is also to be targeted in the multi-million improvements, which main objectives are improving the road’s surface and pavements.

Some landscaping and aesthetic maintenance will be done in specific areas; a new roundabout will be created, as will pedestrian access to a designated cycle lane.

It has been estimated that the project will cost a total of three million euros, and will take 10 months to complete.
