Murphy, who lost 18-9 to Higgins in a one-sided final of the World Championship in Sheffield earlier this month, was in top form as he beat the Scot 6-2 to scoop the 50,000 euros top prize.
World champion Higgins - one of the driving forces behind the tournament - split the first two frames with the man he dominated at the Crucible, but Murphy came back out after the interval and produced a pair of century breaks to take control of the match, then won the next two frames to finish things off.
"I was obviously disappointed last week but to bounce back straight away with a win is great," said Murphy.
"I have been playing well for weeks and weeks and if my safety game had been a little bit better I would have competed more in last week's final.
"I made an effort tonight not to go head to head with John in the safety department. I decided I was going to go for my shots and it worked." |
