Ryanair hope the announcement will make the Algarve even more popular as a holiday destination, making it "more accessible in distance and price". The airline now has 27 routes from Faro, to connect the Algarve’s capital to other European cities. Nuno Aires, president of the Algarve Promotion Bureau, said: "This is good news for visitors to our region and will be a positive addition to the tourism industry in the Algarve." Ryanair’s air traffic in Faro will increase to 1.3 million passengers as of next year and the Irish airline have invested an estimated more than 200 million Euros in three aircrafts and its operational centre at Faro airport. The new routes will also link Faro to Billund (Denmark), Eindhoven and Maastricht (Holland), Madrid (Spain), Oslo (Norway), Stockholm (Sweden), Paris and Marselha (France), Milão (Italy), Memmingen (Germany), Birmingham, Derry, Kerry and Knock (UK).
