BA is scheduled to open its new route between Faro and London City Airport on 7 June 2011.
With this new route, BA aims to diversify its choices and capture a segment of the market who reside in and around London. BA currently flies from Faro to Gatwick Airport, a route which has transported more than 110,000 passengers since it was inaugurated in 2008.
There will be three weekly flights on the new route on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays which will be assured by the company’s subsidiary BA Cityflyer with a 98 seater Embraer 190 plane. For more information, or to book flights, please visit their website at: www.britishairways.com.
Meanwhile, TAP has announced that it will be opening new routes to Athens, Vienna, Dusseldorf, Bordeaux, Manchester and Dubrovnik next summer.
“These are strong destinations in terms of business and tourism” said TAP President Fernando Pinto, adding that this will be a 17 percent rise in European routes in a single year, “without new planes.”
With the new routes, TAP’s European network will be increased to 49 destinations. To Germany, the company already has routes to Frankfurt, Munich and Hamburg, which with the addition of Dusseldorf will increase the weekly flights to that country to 54.
Flights to France will increase to 154, with the addition of Bordeaux, while to the UK, there will be 75 weekly flights.
