The campaign kicked off on Wednesday this week with the distribution of pamphlets in Huelva and Seville, where six large outdoors billboards sporting the phrase ‘There is an Algarve without Tolls’, will also be put up.
It was drawn up to promote the lower Guadiana area (Alcoutim, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António) and inform Spanish tourists of the toll-free routes that they can take.
“The Spanish are still very confused about the tolls and the majority don’t know how they work or how to pay”, a spokesperson for the €10,000 campaign explained, adding that the aim is for the message to be out there ahead of the Easter and summer holidays.
Co-financed by the Programme for Portugal-Spain Trans-frontier Cooperation, in a second phase of the campaign it is hoped a promotional advert of the Eastern Algarve will be broadcast on Andalucian TV.
