Having conducted extensive research, Crystal compiled findings on where skiers and snowboarders holiday during summer months. Over 1500 snow sports enthusiasts took part in the study, which lead to the conclusion that beach breaks around the Mediterranean came out as favourite. Destinations such as Greece, Spain, Italy, or Portugal for guaranteed sunshine came out on top.
To celebrate the findings, Crystal Summer has launched a competition with a top prize of a holiday to Portugal for two people. The prize includes return flights and transfers, plus accommodation at the Hotel Vila Gale Albacora near Tavira.
The pretty riverside spot of Tavira is an old tuna fishing town in the Algarve, a short drive away from Faro. With museums documenting the history of the area, restaurants serving freshly caught fish and locally produced wine, spectacular swathes of beaches, and lush green golf courses, there is something for everyone.
The Vila Galé Albacora Hotel is an assortment of pretty buildings which used to be an entire fishing village, now transformed into a seafront hotel. What was once the town hall is now the games rooms, the sunny fishing net yard now the large outdoor pool, and the chapel continues to marry couples and hold mass. There is a choice of beaches; a small beach just steps from the hotel or a much larger, pristine beach with white sands a boat trip away across the inlet. The hotel also has a spa, games room, top class restaurant, and a free shuttle bus to Tavira town centre.
